The Six Hours of Lock 4 race this past weekend was a blast. That is such a fast trail. Looked like everyone riding was having a blast, and there was some blisteringly fast loops being thrown down.
Well the leaves in western North Carolina are beautiful! I really could spend the rest of my life somewhere between Asheville, Brevard, Bryson City and Black Mountain. That is plenty of mtn to roam-
This is from a bike ride last weekend at Dupont State Forrest outside of Hendersonville, NC.
This next week should offer up enough great imagery to do a photo of the day this week. Here is a shot from night two of Panic Ryman. So happy there is one more! So far it has been a huge run-
Here is a little something extra for being lazy posting. Here is a shot of my boy Derek (of Deez Decks custom painted sk8 decks) ripin it up downtown. The weather is perfect right now. Get out and ride your bike, skate, hike, breathe fresh air, whatever. Just make it count-
The Black Crowes rolled into the Ryman for a stop on their last tour the "Say Goodbye to the Bad Guys Tour". This was the type of show you want from the Crowes. It was 3 hours long and touched on every album from their illustrious career.
Sorry for last week. Here is a few things to make up for my absence. A little something from the AMA Awards. Wanda Jackson boogin down with Buddy Miller and his all-star house band. As well a little something from the Ryman Pixies show. I'll post up something from the Black Crowes later.
AMA is all over Nashville this week. Last night after an excellent awards show, the audience was treated to a phenomenal set of Robert Plant and the Band of Joy. Amazing!
My birthday is later this week so lets get nostalgic shall we. This is one of my favorite bands from back in the day. I spent many a good night with some of my best friends chasing Acoustic Syndicate around. especially in the mtns of North Carolina. Man those old Halloween farm shows were great. Outside of Boone I think?
Last night at the Ryman The Arcade Fire delivered a powerful and yet short show of transcendental rock n roll. When its that good it doesn't need to be any longer than an hour and a half.
This past Friday night at the Ryman, Primus put on a ridiculously good show. It may have been the most fun I have had at a rock and roll show in a while. I got to do some cool portraits of the band before their set, and got some killer stuff during their performance. Top notch operation! Here is a little taste. Enjoi-
Here is a photo from earlier this summer at Bonnaroo. This was from the Sonic Stage performance of Medeski, Martin and Wood. Annabel makes it happen, bringing some of the best artists at the ROO to the intimate Sonic Stage every year!
Well last night at the Ryman was a barburner. Del had a bunch of buddies join in, and the Steep Canyon Rangers all but stole the show with their great opening set! Here is 2 of my favorite bluegrass personalities. Del the king of bluegrass, and Sam the mayor of Telluride (Bluegrass Festival).
Well at this rate it is really more photo of the month. I have been in CO, NC an SC lately. However have not taken a whole lot of pics. Here is some stuff from this morning's Lock Four Challenge.
Sorry for disappearing. Summer is so distracting. Here is some shots from this past weekends 6 Hours of Hamilton Creek Race. Nice event Mid Tn Sorba, Harpeth Bikes and all those involved!
Despite the heavy rains on Sat. Vanderbilt's Rites of Spring was still a huge success. Some good music got rained out, but the show went on with Phoenix, Cold War Kids, Drake, New Mastersounds, Sierra Leone Refugee Allstars and Ben Harper.
Well I am traveling for the next few days and have shot some really cool stuff lately. So I am going to go ahead and throw up some images for you all to check out. Levon Helm's Ramble at the Ryman was a one of a kind show of a lifetime. Buddy Miller, Sam Bush, Emmy Lou, David Rawlings, Gillian welch and Rodney Crowell joined in the fun.
Brad Hodge Photography is about capturing essence. The magical moment when music unfolds into memories, a sun setting over a field of thousands or that moment of solitude when the world seems fair and just. When it happens we will be there, quietly without disrupting nature's flow to capture and share with the rest of the world.
Aside from the daily quest to capture moments of bliss, we also do band promotional portraits, album packaging, editorial assignments and much more.
