Photo of the Day 03/13/08

Sorry for the long delay. Gonna try to get this thing back together. Here is a nice photo from this past weekend's Langerado Music Festival. It was one of the best run festivals I have been to, and I have been to most of them. The line up was jam packed with new and exciting music. This is from !!!'s set.

02/02/2008 Photo of the Day

Happy Saturday!! It is a beautiful day here in Nashville, and I just finished up a photo shoot with the bad ass Garage Deluxe camp out of Knoxville, TN. They are playing select dates with JJ Grey and Mofro this winter. Anyway since it is a gorgeous day I am going to get outside and try to enjoy the sunshine. Here is a photo of Ozomatli from this past summer's Wakarusa Festival.

01/30/2008 Photo of the Day

Just to changes subjects for a moment, here is a photo of Jerry Joseph from a shoot we did this past weekend. Jerry is an amazing songwriter, and criminally overlooked guitarist. He has had a few bands throughout the years. Most notable being Little Women and Jerry Joseph and the Jackmormons. His most recent project is with Steve Drizos, and they are known as the Denmark Veseys.

01/22/2008 Photo of the Day

My bad! I didn't get a photo up again. Here is a photo for yesterday, and I will upload today later with some extras.

This is Jeff Coffin. He is master of the reed instruments. Jeff is a member of the Flecktones, and also has another project The Mu'tet.

Jeff was onboard Jamcruise as a part of the core members of the Everyone Orchestra with Jon Fishman, Steve Kimock, Matt Butler and Jamie Janover. Jeff ended up playing a massive part of the Jamcruise jamming. Aside from his sets with the EO, he lead a sax clinic with Dominic Lalli, Karl Denson and Skerik, played with Soulive, Yonder Mountain String Band, The Superjam, Col. Bruce Hampton's Massive Jam Room session and I am sure that I am leaving out some other performances. Look out for some Mu'tet dates and a few special nights with drummer Jeff Sipe performing as a duo.

Soulive is some bad muthas. Krasno has his hands all over all types of hit records right now, and the band continues to throw down as one of the best trios around. They started the first night of Jamcruise's music off with a sail away show on the pool deck.
Setting the precedent for what would happen all week, they were joined by guests like Karl Denson and Ivan Neville throughout the set. Here is a photo of Allen Evans kicking out the jam behind the kit.

Keeping with the funk stuff from Jamcruise. Here is a photo from The Motet's set in the Lirica Lounge. The Motet hails from Boulder Colorado, and they know how to bring it. They have evolved into a revved up world beat influenced electronic band. When I first saw these guys tearing apart the Boulder Theater they were heavy on percussion (in fact they ended the show in a drum line marching out onto the courthouse lawn). These days Dominc Lalli's sax drives the beat alongside Adam Revell's axe. The best part of The Motet is the unbreakable backbone of Garret Sayers on bass and Dave Watts behind the kit. Check them out if you get the chance. www.themotet.net
