Super Jam on the boat is always special. This year Eric Krasno took the role of leader and musical coordinator. This multiple exposure captures Kraz leading the charge along side John Scofield, Adam Deitch and Weedie Braimah. Talk about some heavyweight talent.

JAM CRUISE 13!!!!!

WOW! What a phun adventure. After 7 glorious years of boat riding I was forced to take last year off, and take on a long play of getting a new career up and running, relocation to Montana and in doing so creating the perfect existence. It is all paying off in groves. Starting with getting to return to the beloved Jam Cruise to start 2015 off with my favorite musical adventure and many of my favorite artists and friends.

Being apart of the Cloud 9 staff is a dream come true. One that I owe many thanks to Michael Weintrob, Annabel Lukins-Stelling, Mark Brown, Kelly Viau and Jon Sweetwood many thanks for helping me to be apart of! This year my favorites The Motet, Lettuce and Nth Power were onboard and ready throw down! I also have been falling head over heals for Snarky Puppy with every opportunity to see them. They are the most exciting music collective, and really push the boundaries of musical exploration. Such amazing talent!

I was also blown away by Sister Sparrow and the Dirty Birds! Man did they rip the Atrium apart on the last evening of the cruise. This is one of my favorite shots from their set. More to follow-

Going to try and get back to posting something every Sunday, or at least most. This is from a recent trip to Jackson, Wy. Grand Teton National Park is amazing. This mountain range is by far one of my favorites to photograph. There is certainly a magical power these mountains possess.

Nashville, Lettuce funk for free 07/24/14

I absolutely love this band. Lettuce is for sure some of the heaviest of heavies making music. Tonight they are playing my old stomping grounds of Nashville for free. How could you miss free!?! I loved working "Dancin in the District" back in the day. I was the staff photographer for the music series for 3 or 4 years I think. Good times!! SO happy to hear that it has arrived back on the riverfront. Every great city needs free music series.

It's gonna be a long summer

This sucks! Can't stand sitting still. Things were going so well. Started the spring off riding bikes in Moab, Fruita, Lyons, Missoula and Bozeman. Then a big trip to celebrate memorial day in Sun Valley, Idaho. Tasted some primo single track in Jackson, Wyoming and at Grand Targhee Resort. I had to sit out the annual celebration of Mike Rosales blessing the earth with his presence in Crested Butte (filled with late night wresting rivalries, shuttle runs of Doctor's Park, all those waist deep wildflowers and downhillin at CB with the boys. However I got to go to central Oregon instead, and rode around Mt. Bachelor, Bend and McKenzie River. Hung with some old buddies in Portland and got to spend some time in Hood River.

So I never saw it coming when I decided to sneak down to Trestle Bike Park in Winter Park, Colorado to get some time rippin with my crew. Blindsided with passion and an eagerness to fly I blew thru a table top, landing off the trail and ejecting myself into a pile of broken rubble. After being assisted by a cutie who was rippin behind me (she cleared my spin and even walked my bike with hers to get me down to the meeting spot for bike patrol), a super all pro basket ride from the Trestle Bike Park crew, an afternoon of painful x-rays, poking and prodding I was prescribed a summer of boredom and bike free livin.

So I plan to rehab, soak, rehab, soak until I can ride. That might not be until winter and it is my snowboard, however I'm not choosing to accept that without a fight for some fall single track. In the mean time I hope to be able to soon handle carrying a camera and doing some more nature stuff to keep me somewhat sane.

YO!

What gives? Where you all been? I don't miss the grind of working in the music industry. Don't get me wrong I have done some amazing things, met some fabulous people and learned an art that I will always cherish. However swimming in a sea of talent, many who don't respect their work or the profession enough to charge properly, dealing with friends along the way that forget about hiring you, when they know it means the world to you, general lack of understanding of the cost and talent that goes into actually being good and capable of delivering on tight deadlines and just the seemingly grimy feeling the business side always seemed to leave on me weighs me down no longer. I do however miss the creative outlet. I have tried to get back into shooting music, however on most nights the fire just doesn't ignite. Earlier this summer though my buddy Morgan called me up and asked if I would come do some portraits of the Lettuce crew and shoot the Red Rocks show. The boys and Gramatik sold the joint out, and it was a blast. Fire was strong that night! This is a cool shot that shows the enormity of the Lettuce Rage Family!

Tune in occasionally as I might fine the fire for more limited engagements. At the very least I might start posting some landscape and travel imagery. As always thanks for playing-

What a great weekend! Orgone and The Motet were amazing at State Bridge. Weather, friends, bike rides, the river....everything was perfect. As we sat at Rancho waiting for game time to roll around the moon stuck its head out to see what was going on.

Happy July everyone. Time flies when you are having phun. This past weekend was a good time. I went to Saturday and Sunday of the mighty Widespread Panic Red Rocks run. Saw lots of great friends, and shook when it felt good.

It is a gorgeous Thursday afternoon here along the front range. Tomorrow night Umphrey's tears up Red Rocks. Should be a phabulous evening!


Here is a shot of the lovely and talented Brittnay Howard and bassist Zac Cockrell of the Alabama Shakes. The band co headlined the best venue in the world this past Sunday with Ed Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes.

What a freakin weekend! Huge shows by some of my favorites. Dumpstaphunk led things off for me at the Lyons Outdoor Games. It was a free show, and worth all that and a whole lot more. Ivan and crew crushed the gorgeous evening, and got me all fired up for Saturday night's appointment with the London Souls and Lettuce. I have been diggin on the London Souls for years now, but haven't had the chance to catch a show till this past weekend. Very seldom do I find out about a band I love and not see them for years. It was worth the wait. Kraz sat in with the band the whole set, and it was nothing short of spectacular.




If I had to pick a favorite band it would be beyond difficult. I could tell you this it would be between The Motet and Lettuce. Fortunately I get to see lots of The Motet, so when Lettuce comes around it is the blockbuster hit for me. These guys really have more chops than any other musical collective. There is not a weak spot in the band. The "Let us play" crew blew the roof off of Cervante's (not surprised reports say they ripped the roof off Friday night as well).



Nigel Hall came out and whipped things into a frenzy with some amazing vocals.

This past weekend I saw some of the best Everyone Orchestra I have seen. It was true improv fun, and all the players were top notch. Some real front range class acts. Dave Watts, Jans Ingber, Kai Echkart, Bill McKay, Tanya Shylock, Bill Nershi, Anders Beck and Tom Carbone. And of course the creator behind the Everyone Orchestra and conductor, Matt Butler. They all brought A+ game, and it was a real treat-

Let's call it a May post

If you own a camera and aim to capture moments in time, you know how elusive they can be. I have shot Galactic off and on for over 12 years, and have seen Ben throw back his head and wail on his sax as many times as I have seen Stanton explode out of his seat to assault his drum kit. However I have never once been in the right spot to capture the 2 working it in the same frame. Jamcruise 11 finally delivered. My favorite Galactic shot, hope you like it too!

Hey cool kids, Spring time is nice! Snow has been falling like crazy in CO, there are great shows happening all over the map. I have been on the road non stop lately learning a new profession, and ocasionally visiting this one I started a long time ago. I haven't shot much lately. I am siting in the Columbus, OH airport, and some how the only images I have on the hard drive I have out is Bonnaroo 2012.
